This application has been specifically developed to measure the performance of the Intelligent Network Nodes, both for wire-line and wireless applications. INMS, provides an intuitive drill down interface for the monitoring of the performance of all the IN nodes in the network. The IN nodes in a network typically provide the core engine for the support of the most highest value calls., but at the same time these calls are often the most complex to set up. So any problems in the set up of these calls can lead to loss of significant revenue. If one considers the proportion of pre-paid GSM mobiles that typically exist in a network, with some operators stating that up to 70% of call calls are pre-paid. The INMS provides a vital service assurance tool. Again no competitive vendor can provide this level of sophistication in their IN measurement support. Intelligent Network Services are assuming increasing importance in the struggle for market differentiation. Business and corporate users are the main beneficiaries of IN services and expect a high quality of service in return for the premium charges that these services attract. Operators need to be able to maintain service reliability in order to extract the maximum possible income from this high revenue source. Agilent Technologies’ Intelligent Network Monitoring System (INMS) is a state of the art surveillance system, dedicated to monitoring IN end-to-end service quality in real time. INMS captures and processes IN service invocations by monitoring the SS7 links between the MSC and SCP. It gathers data about specific IN procedures in terms of volume and error rates and displays this data graphically at configured time intervals to help identify problem areas quickly and easily. In addition to monitoring the performance of IN services, INMS can investigate problems and verify problem fixes have been successful.
